Olympic Games Men's Individual golf event (Aug 1-4; Summer Olympic Games XXXIII). Tommy Fleetwood (Eng; silver medal) finished 1 shot behind 28-year-old Scottie Scheffler (USA; gold medal). Hideki Matsuyama (Jpn; bronze medal) finished 1 shot behind Fleetwood. World No.1 Scheffler claimed his seventh win of the season. [Albatros course, Golf National, Guyancourt, nr Paris].

Gold-medal winner Xander Schauffele (USA) finished 1 shot ahead of silver-medallist Rory Sabbatini (Slovakia). Three shots off the lead and in a seven-way playoff for the bronze medal, Chengtsung "C.T." Pan (Taiw) beat Collin Morikawa (USA) at the fourth playoff hole (par-4 18th). Rory McIlroy (N.Ire), Guillermo "Mito" Pereira (Chile) and Sebastián Muñoz (Colom) were eliminated at the third playoff hole. Paul Casey (Eng) and Hideki Maruyama (Jpn) were eliminated at the first playoff hole. [Kasumigaseki CC, Kawagoe, Saitama, nr Tokyo].

Played as the Men's Individual golf event (Aug 11-14; Summer Olympic Games XXXI). Henrik Stenson (Swe; silver medal) finished 2 shots behind Justin Rose (GB; gold medal). Matt Kuchar (USA; bronze medal) finished 1 shot behind Stenson. The return of men's golf to the Olympic Games after an absence of 112 years gave Rose the opportunity to become only the third man ever to win an Olympic gold medal for golf. Played as the Men's Individual Olympic Games golf event (Sept 19-24; 75 competitors - 74 from USA and 3 from Canada; one qualifying round, then best 32 competed on a knockout match play basis; Summer Olympic Games III). Gold medal winner George S. Lyon (Can) beat Chandler Egan (USA, silver medal) 3 and 2 in the final. Beaten semi-finalists (bronze medal): Burt Mckinnie (USA) and Francis Newton (USA). Played as the Men's Individual golf event (Summer Olympic Games II); the debut appearance of golf at the Games. 36-hole strokeplay format between 12 players from four countries: USA, GB, France and Greece. Gold medal: Charles Sands (USA), score167. Silver medal: Walter Rutherford (GB) 168. Bronze medal: David Robertson (GB) 175. [Compiègne GC, Compiègne, nr Paris, France].
Sony Open in Hawaii: played at Waialae Country Club near Honolulu, the Sony Open takes over the spotlight from The Sentry as the PGA Tour’s calendar-year opening event (Jan 15-18). The Sentry (not being played in 2026) was formerly known as the Tournament of Champions, with a field typically restricted to golfers who won a PGA Tour event in the previous calendar year.
Dubai Desert Classic: the DP World Tour’s first Rolex Series event of 2026, is contested for the 37th time (Jan 22-25). First won by Englishman Mark James in 1989, it now boasts a four-time winner, Rory McIlroy. Played on the Emirates Golf Club’s Majlis course, this once desert-surrounded course is the long-time flagship for Golf in Dubai.

Here at Prince’s Golf Club you'll find 27 excellent holes of links golf. Just over the fence and sharing similar terrain is Royal St George’s; but Prince’s is far from overshadowed by its venerable neighbour.
