Olympic Games Women's Individual golf event (4th) (Aug 8-11; Summer Olympic Games XXXIII). Esther Henseleit (Ger; silver medal) finished 2 shots behind 27-year-old Lydia Ko (NZ; gold medal). Xiyu Lin (China; bronze medal) finished 1 shot behind Henseleit. Ko completed the full set of Olympic medals having previously won silver (2016, Rio) and bronze (2020, Tokyo). [Albatros course, Golf National, Guyancourt, nr Paris].

Olympic Games Women's Individual golf event (3rd) (Aug 4-7; Summer Olympic Games XXXII). 23-year-old World No.1 Nelly Korda (USA; gold medal) finished 1 shot ahead of Mone Inami (Jpn; silver) and defending champion Lydia Ko (NZ; bronze). Inami beat Ko with a par at the first playoff hole (par-4 18th) to secure the silver medal. [East course, Kasumigaseki CC, Kawagoe, Saitama, nr Tokyo]. Postponed from 2020 due to global coronavirus pandemic.

Played as the Women's Individual golf event (Aug 17-20; Summer Olympic Games XXXI). Shanshan Feng (China; bronze medal) finished 1 shot behind Lydia Ko (NZ; silver), who finished 5 shots behind Park (S Kor; gold). Park became only the second woman to win an Olympic gold medal for golf, following the return of women's golf to the Olympics after an absence of 116 yrs. [Olympic Course, Reserva da Marapendi, Barra de Tijuca, Rio de Janeiro].

Played as the Women's Individual golf event (Summer Olympic Games II); the debut appearance of golf at the Games. 9-hole strokeplay format between 10 players from two countries: USA (5) and France (5). Gold medal: Margaret Abbott (USA), score 47. Silver medal: Pauline Whittier (USA) 49. Bronze medal: Daria Pratt (USA) 53. [Compiègne GC, Compiègne, nr Paris, France].
Women’s (British) Open: the last women’s major championship of the season is hosted by Royal Porthcawl GC. It’s the first time this fabulous seaside links course has hosted the event (July 31-Aug 3).
Walker Cup: the 50th playing of this prestigious men’s amateur event sees the GB&I go head-to-head against the defending USA team at Cypress Point Club, California (Sept 6-7). After that, all eyes turn to Bethpage State Park on Long Island, NY, where the American and defending European professional teams engage in the 45th Ryder Cup (Sept 27-29).
Lottie Woad: 21-year-old Woad burst onto the professional scene in July, with wins in the Women’s Irish Open (as an amateur) and three weeks later in the Women’s Scottish Open (as a professional). She nearly picked-up a major championship, placing third in The Evian in the same month.
Pádraig Harrington: the ever-likeable Irishman added the (British) Senior Open Championship title to his stellar array of tournament successes. His win came on Sunningdale’s spectacular Old Course. Harrington had already bagged the U.S. Senior Open title in June this year.
