Played as the Senior Italian Open presented by Villaverde Resort (Sept 8-10). 51-year-old Clark Dennis (USA) beat Peter Fowler (Aus) at the first playoff hole, to record his first European Senior Tour win. In the playoff, Dennis's eagle-two prevailed over Fowler's birdie-three, at the par-4 18th (which was shortened to 162 yards). Event reduced to 36 holes; third round cancelled due to rain and flooding. [GC Udine, Fagagna, nr Udine, Italy].

Tour rookie Dennis (USA) won the European Snr Tour Order of Merit and associated John Jacobs Trophy, with 2017 earnings of €222,055 on the Tour. The first American to win the John Jacobs Trophy. Chris Williams (RSA) was second with €190,716; Peter Fowler (Aus) was third with €175,752.

Dennis (USA) won the European Snr Tour 2017 Rookie of the Year Award as the leading first-season player. He finished top of the Tour's Order of Merit, with earnings of €222,055.
Sony Open in Hawaii: played at Waialae Country Club near Honolulu, the Sony Open takes over the spotlight from The Sentry as the PGA Tour’s calendar-year opening event (Jan 15-18). The Sentry (not being played in 2026) was formerly known as the Tournament of Champions, with a field typically restricted to golfers who won a PGA Tour event in the previous calendar year.
Dubai Desert Classic: the DP World Tour’s first Rolex Series event of 2026, is contested for the 37th time (Jan 22-25). First won by Englishman Mark James in 1989, it now boasts a four-time winner, Rory McIlroy. Played on the Emirates Golf Club’s Majlis course, this once desert-surrounded course is the long-time flagship for Golf in Dubai.
Our visit last month included two rounds at Golf de Chantilly, one of France’s most prestigious clubs.
