Sony
Played as the Sony Open in Hawaii (Jan 9-12). Nick Taylor (Can) beat Nico Echavarria (Colombia) with a birdie at the second playoff hole (par-5 18th), to record his fifth PGA Tour win. [Waialae CC, Honolulu, Hawaii].
America
Waste Mgt
Played as the WM Phoenix Open (Feb 8-11). Nick Taylor (Can) beat Charley Hoffman (USA) with a birdie at the second playoff hole (par-4 18th). Taylor shot an opening round 60 (-11). In the fourth and final round he birdied three of the last four holes in regulation play (and then birdied both playoff holes) to "steal" the win, which had earlier looked "in the bag" for 47-year-old Hoffman. [Stadium course, TPC Scottsdale, Phoenix, AZ].
America
RBC
Played as the RBC Canadian Open (June 8-11). Nick Taylor (Can) broke a 69-year home-winner drought in this event, beating Tommy Fleetwood (Eng) with a 72-foot eagle putt at the fourth playoff hole (par-5 18th). This was the longest putt ever made by Taylor in his PGA Tour career. The event's two previous home-country winners were Pat Fletcher (1954; an English-born Canadian citizen) and Karl Keffer (1914; Canadian-born). [Oakdale G&CC, Toronto, Canada].
America
AT&T
Played as the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am (Feb 6-9). Second-placed Kevin Streelman (USA) finished 4 shots behind Taylor (Can), to record his second PGA Tour win. [Pebble Beach Links, Monterey Peninsula, CA. Earlier rounds also at: Monterey Peninsula CC (Shore course) and Spyglass Hill GC].
America
Sanderson Farms
Played as the Sanderson Farms Championship (Nov 6-9; PGA Tr 2014/15 season). Second-placed Boo Weekley (USA) and Jason Bohn (USA) finished 2 shots behind first-time PGA Tour winner Taylor (Can), who became the first Canadian-born player to win on the PGA Tour since Mike Weir in 2007. Stephen Ames, a naturalised Canadian, won in 2009. [CC of Jackson, Jackson, Mississippi].
Sony Open in Hawaii: played at Waialae Country Club near Honolulu, the Sony Open takes over the spotlight from The Sentry as the PGA Tour’s calendar-year opening event (Jan 15-18). The Sentry (not being played in 2026) was formerly known as the Tournament of Champions, with a field typically restricted to golfers who won a PGA Tour event in the previous calendar year.
Dubai Desert Classic: the DP World Tour’s first Rolex Series event of 2026, is contested for the 37th time (Jan 22-25). First won by Englishman Mark James in 1989, it now boasts a four-time winner, Rory McIlroy. Played on the Emirates Golf Club’s Majlis course, this once desert-surrounded course is the long-time flagship for Golf in Dubai.
Our visit last month included two rounds at Golf de Chantilly, one of France’s most prestigious clubs.
It offers two superb layouts: Le Vineuil, a five-star championship course with a rich history, and Longères, an excellent four-star course that provides a strong and enjoyable test.
The wider Paris region offers plenty more. Courses such as Fontainebleau, Golf de Saint-Germain, and several other top-rated layouts make this area one of Europe’s most rewarding golf destinations, offering a mix of woodland, heathland, and parkland designs.
The Dutch: "It's no' just a game", as they say in Scotland, and that's certainly true at The Dutch. With 5-star services throughout, a lavishly comfortable Loch Lomond-inspired clubhouse, and a superbly designed and presented golf course, one could not ask for more from this top-end private club.
