The US PGA Championship (106th) (May 16-19). Second-placed Bryson DeChambeau (USA) finished 1 shot behind 30-year-old wire-to-wire winner Xander Schauffele (USA), who recorded his first major championship win. Schauffele's first round 62, the lowest ever round in a major championship, was equalled by Shane Lowry (Ire) in the third round. Only Schauffele and Rickie Fowler (2023, US Open), and Branden Grace (2017, Open Championship) had previously achieved this feat. [Valhalla GC, Louisville, Kentucky].

The US PGA Championship (96th) (Aug 7-10). Second-placed Phil Mickelson (USA) finished 1 shot behind McIlroy (N.Ire), who recorded back-to-back major championship wins. At 25 yrs and 98 days McIlroy became the fourth youngest player to win four Majors, behind Young Tom Morris (21 yrs), Tiger Woods (24) and Jack Nicklaus (25). [Valhalla GC, Louisville, Kentucky].

The US PGA Championship (78th) (Aug 8-11). Brooks (USA) beat Kenny Perry (USA) with a birdie at the first playoff hole (par-5 18th), to record his first major championship win. [Valhalla GC, Louisville, KY].
Women’s (British) Open: the last women’s major championship of the season is hosted by Royal Porthcawl GC. It’s the first time this fabulous seaside links course has hosted the event (July 31-Aug 3).
Walker Cup: the 50th playing of this prestigious men’s amateur event sees the GB&I go head-to-head against the defending USA team at Cypress Point Club, California (Sept 6-7). After that, all eyes turn to Bethpage State Park on Long Island, NY, where the American and defending European professional teams engage in the 45th Ryder Cup (Sept 27-29).
Lottie Woad: 21-year-old Woad burst onto the professional scene in July, with wins in the Women’s Irish Open (as an amateur) and three weeks later in the Women’s Scottish Open (as a professional). She nearly picked-up a major championship, placing third in The Evian in the same month.
Pádraig Harrington: the ever-likeable Irishman added the (British) Senior Open Championship title to his stellar array of tournament successes. His win came on Sunningdale’s spectacular Old Course. Harrington had already bagged the U.S. Senior Open title in June this year.
