Ochoa (Mex) won her third straight Vare Trophy, recording the season's lowest scoring average on the LPGA Tour. Annika Sorenstam (Swe) was second with 70.47; Paula Creamer (USA) was third with 70.56.

Ochoa (Mex) won her third straight LPGA Tour Money List, with 2008 season earnings of $2,763,193 on the Tour. Paula Creamer (USA) was second with $1,823,992; Yani Tseng (Taiw) was third with $1,752,086.

Nocera (Fra) won the LET 2008 Order of Merit (New Star Money List), with earnings of €391,840 on the Tour. Helen Alfredsson (Swe) was second with €320,099; Martina Eberl (Ger) was third with €277,296.
Nocera (Fra) won her second LET Players' Player of the Year Award, based on the votes of her peers.

Ochoa (Mex) won her third straight LPGA Tour Rolex Player of the Year Award, based on a points system for top 10 finishes and performance in Majors.

Reid (Eng) won the LET 2008 Ryder Cup Wales Rookie of the Year Award as the leading first-season player. She finished 12th on the Tour's (money-based) Order of Merit, with earnings of €136,606.

Tseng (Taiw) won the LPGA Tour 2008 Louise Suggs Rookie of the Year Award as the leading first-season player. Using a season-long points system (based on finishes in Tour events), Tseng accumulated 1,563 pts; Na Yeon Choi (S Kor) was second with 1,296 pts. Tseng finished third on the LPGA money list, with earnings of $1,752,086.
Sony Open in Hawaii: played at Waialae Country Club near Honolulu, the Sony Open takes over the spotlight from The Sentry as the PGA Tour’s calendar-year opening event (Jan 15-18). The Sentry (not being played in 2026) was formerly known as the Tournament of Champions, with a field typically restricted to golfers who won a PGA Tour event in the previous calendar year.
Dubai Desert Classic: the DP World Tour’s first Rolex Series event of 2026, is contested for the 37th time (Jan 22-25). First won by Englishman Mark James in 1989, it now boasts a four-time winner, Rory McIlroy. Played on the Emirates Golf Club’s Majlis course, this once desert-surrounded course is the long-time flagship for Golf in Dubai.
