Played as the Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship (Nov 3-6). 21-year-old, world No.1 ranked amateur Keita Nakajima (Jpn) beat 20-year-old Taichi Kho (Hong Kong) at the second playoff hole (par-4 18th). [Dubai Creek GC, Dubai, UAE].

The Amateur Championship (126th) (June 14-19). 23-year-old Laird Shepherd (Eng) beat 25-year-old Monty Scowsill (Eng) in the 36-hole final. In an extraordinary turnaround, Shepherd clawed his way back from what looked like the possibility of a record defeat. He won with a par at the 38th hole, having earlier been eight down after 17 holes, and four down with four to play. [Nairn GC, Nairn, nr Inverness, Scotland].

Played as the European Amateur Championship (June 23-26). Second-placed 21-year-old Ludvig Åberg (Swe) finished 2 shots behind 22-year-old Christoffer Bring (Den). [Châteaux course, Golf du Médoc, nr Bordeaux].

The US Amateur Championship (121st) (Aug 9-16). 22-year-old James Piot (USA) beat 20-year-old Austin Greaser (USA) 2 and 1 in the 36-hole final. Three down after 27 holes, Piot rallied with three birdies in the last eight holes. [Oakmont CC, nr Pittsburgh, PA].
Sony Open in Hawaii: played at Waialae Country Club near Honolulu, the Sony Open takes over the spotlight from The Sentry as the PGA Tour’s calendar-year opening event (Jan 15-18). The Sentry (not being played in 2026) was formerly known as the Tournament of Champions, with a field typically restricted to golfers who won a PGA Tour event in the previous calendar year.
Dubai Desert Classic: the DP World Tour’s first Rolex Series event of 2026, is contested for the 37th time (Jan 22-25). First won by Englishman Mark James in 1989, it now boasts a four-time winner, Rory McIlroy. Played on the Emirates Golf Club’s Majlis course, this once desert-surrounded course is the long-time flagship for Golf in Dubai.
