Mosfellsbæjar Golf Club (Golfklúbbur Mosfellsbæjar): A ten-minute drive northeast from the centre of Reykjavík will bring you to Mosfellsbæjar Golf Club and its 18-hole championship Hlida course (Hlidavöllur). A further nine kilometres inland, the club's charming nine-hole Bakkakot course can be found in the hills of the Mosfell Valley.
The championship Hlida course lies at the edge of Kollafjördur bay, with many holes playing alongside the sea's edge. The relatively generous fairways, routed through jagged rocks of age old lava, lead you towards generally large undulating greens.
Spectacular sea and island vistas are here in abundance. Across the water, looms the snow-capped glacier of Snæfellsjökull, while inland lies Reykjavik's signature mountain, Esja. Immediately to the south is Reykjavik Golf Club's Korpa course.
Visitors welcome on weekdays and weekends during the golf season (generally late-May thru early-Sept).
Must book in advance. Tee-times available until 10pm, and midnight golf in June/July on request.

The Mosfellsbaer Golf Club was created in 2014 as the result of two smaller golf clubs merging. Kjolur GC (dating from 1980) was located on the coast in Mosfellsbaer, while the Bakkakot GC had a nine-hole layout in the hills of the picturesque Mosfell Valley.
The nine-hole Kjolur course was extended in 2008 (and renamed) to become Mosfellsbaer's 18-hole Hlidavöllur layout. The club still retains the nine-hole Bakkakot facility in the valley.
