Nirwana Bali Golf Club: COURSE REMAINS CLOSED AS OF END-2023. Located 20 km northwest of the Balinese capital of Denpasar, New Bali was closed in 2019 pending a huge makeover under the Trump International banner. However, the course remains closed, seemingly with development work suspended. When it does reopen for play, as a member of the Trump International brand, it will do so with a completely new layout designed by Phil Mickelson.
Before the Trump takeover, Nirwana Bali was the No.1 rated course in Bali and Indonesia, and generally regarded as one of Asia's best. No reason to think this will be any different when it reopens.
Offering dramatic ocean views, Greg Norman's original challenging design was laid out over a wonderfully natural and verdant landscape. Dramatic clifftop holes, most notably the signature par-3 7th, short par-4 13th and par-3 14th put you at the cliff's edge, with stunning coastal views overlooking the Indian Ocean.
Course closed in 2017. Before closure, visitors were welcome.
Nirwana Bali Golf Club first opened for play in 1997, and immediately commanded rave reviews. It closed in 2017 to undergo a complete makeover, with a Phil Mickelson Design replacing that of Greg Norman.
The facility has also been brought under the Trump umbrella, the organisation's first resort in Asia, to be called Trump International Hotel & Tower Bali. It will be the largest and most integrated lifestyle resort destination in Bali, "bringing a new level of luxury, quality and entertainment to the island".
