From the North-South Highway (E1) south of the Georgetown turn-off, take exit 156 (Jawi). Follow signs for 2 km to Bukit Jawi Golf resort.
Bukit Jawi (Hill)
Bukit Jawi Golf Resort (Hill course): Laid out on pleasantly and continually undulating terrain, Bukit Jawi can boast two excellent, challenging and very absorbing championship layouts. The Hill course, rather than the slightly shorter and more technical Lake course, will encourage big-hitters with its usually good-width fairways, even if six or seven of them require blind, uphill drives from the tee.
Good bunkering and a pleasant line of palms (and other tree varieties), ensure every hole benefits from good definition. Among many memorable holes, the excellent downhill par-3 12th is seriously defended by a small lake in front of the green. The long par-3 16th, heading in the opposite direction, also utilises the same lake.
Elevation changes and substantive greenside bunkering are bigger factors here than water hazards, although the 9th and 18th holes have threatening water hazards crossing the fairways, both warranting a clear strategy from tee-to-green.
If you've navigated your way around the course and putted well on its often elevated, not overly fast greens, prepare yourself for a serious putting challenge at the seemingly innocuous par-4 17th. Your approach shot should factor in a putting surface that shelves steeply from right to left. This is a green that's seen several top golfers struggling to get down in four or more, the "victims" claiming it is too sloping and too unfair!

Bukit Jawi Golf Resort, not unlike several other Malaysian golf course developments, occupies what was formerly a palm tree plantation.
The resort is one of a group of clubs/resorts that work together to promote golf in the state of Penang, both on the mainland and the island of Penang. The others include Penang Golf Club (on the island), and Penang Golf Resort, with its East and West courses.

Visit websiteBukit Jawi's 72 resort rooms were upgraded in 2007 and are tastefully decorated, with full amenities including air-conditioning. The rooms feature open verandas overlooking the golf course. A practice putting green outside the rooms allows you the opportunity to sharpen your short game skills.

Sony Open in Hawaii: played at Waialae Country Club near Honolulu, the Sony Open takes over the spotlight from The Sentry as the PGA Tour’s calendar-year opening event (Jan 15-18). The Sentry (not being played in 2026) was formerly known as the Tournament of Champions, with a field typically restricted to golfers who won a PGA Tour event in the previous calendar year.
Dubai Desert Classic: the DP World Tour’s first Rolex Series event of 2026, is contested for the 37th time (Jan 22-25). First won by Englishman Mark James in 1989, it now boasts a four-time winner, Rory McIlroy. Played on the Emirates Golf Club’s Majlis course, this once desert-surrounded course is the long-time flagship for Golf in Dubai.
Our visit last month included two rounds at Golf de Chantilly, one of France’s most prestigious clubs.
It offers two superb layouts: Le Vineuil, a five-star championship course with a rich history, and Longères, an excellent four-star course that provides a strong and enjoyable test.
The wider Paris region offers plenty more. Courses such as Fontainebleau, Golf de Saint-Germain, and several other top-rated layouts make this area one of Europe’s most rewarding golf destinations, offering a mix of woodland, heathland, and parkland designs.

Here at Prince’s Golf Club you'll find 27 excellent holes of links golf. Just over the fence and sharing similar terrain is Royal St George’s; but Prince’s is far from overshadowed by its venerable neighbour.
