Where2Golf says:

Mauritius Gymkhana Club: One of the most affordable golf courses in Mauritius and reputedly the world's fourth oldest golf club, the Gymkhana Club is situated in the centre of Mauritius in Vacoas. This relatively short par-68 layout, measuring just over 5300 yards from the tips, places a high premium on accuracy, even though you'll not be troubled by any water hazards. Out of bounds is a factor on several holes, while the typically small, hard putting surfaces will need good quality approach work, first to hit them and then to hold the ball on them. One or two holes criss-cross over each other on this relatively compact parkland layout. A course that lays down an enjoyable and testing round, although not in the same class as the coastal championship courses in the south and east of Mauritius, which are making the island an outstanding and varied golf destination.

Did you know?

The Mauritius Gymkhana Club was founded as a leisure club for British officers serving in Mauritius in the first half of the 19th century. The precise date when the Club was established is not known, however historical events point to sometime between 1834 and 1844. Golf was played in Mauritius from the club's earliest days, with the first official 9-hole course constructed by members of the British Forces, and opening in 1902. The Mauritius Gymkhana Club is reputedly the 4th oldest golf club in the world and the oldest in the Indian Ocean.

Heritage Golf Club, (formerly Golf du Château, Domaine de Bel Ombre): Nestling down beneath a lush, verdant ridge, the Heritage Golf Club does much to evoke its sugar plantation origins.
