Golfsociëteit De Lage Vuursche: In a wonderfully wooded part of the Netherlands, the Golf Society of Lage Vuursche has opted for a very open and distinctly American style golf course. Ever-present water hazards, acres of bunkering, significant earth-mounding and often vast, sloping greens have all been expertly and collaboratively designed by two of America's best golf course architects - Kyle Phillips and Robert Trent Jones Jr.
The layout's degree of playing difficulty is high, which ensures all golfers are continually challenged. Plenty of fairway hugging water hazards and an abundance of bunkering creates several tight drives, while also placing a premium on accurate approach work. As pockets of recent tree planting and overall course conditions continue to mature, Lage Vuursche will consolidate its already high reputation as one of the Netherland's best "new" courses.
For a club that charges one of the highest green fees in the country, you should expect something very special and maintenance standards to be exceptional. There is no doubt the modern and challenging layout should be applauded, especially given the flatness of the original terrain. Photo's courtesy of Golfsociëteit De Lage Vuursche.
Visitors welcome on Mon-Thur; no outside visitors on Fri-Sun.
Must book in advance. Maximum handicap: 54.

A painting in the clubhouse entrance makes some sense of the "World Course" concept that exists here at Lage Vuursche.
