This challenging, undulating course may not be the biggest or grandest in New Zealand, but is very social and visitors are welcome at anytime. It has also acquired something of a reputation amongst "golf as it was meant to be" aficionados.
The course offers a wonderfully open and linksy environment, with the rolling terrain capped by sandy ridges (originally blown in from the sea). A large maintenance crew, of the domesticated sheep variety, keep the fairways trimmed. Some may say it's as rough and rustic as golf courses come ... but most golfers just get on with their game and relish every minute of it.
Visitors welcome on weekdays and weekends.
Worth booking ahead to ensure tee-time availability, especially at weekends.

Waverley Golf Club moved from its original site in Oturi Rd, near Waverley rail station, in 1967. Land was purchased at the new location in Ihupuku Rd from the Bremer family. The area was deemed very suitable for a golf couse, with much of the ground formed by sand ridges that had been blown in from the sea.
