Where2Golf says:
Blairgowrie Golf Club (Rosemount course): One of Scotland's bonniest courses and a long-time favourite with golfers from around the world. Blairgowrie's Rosemount course, designed by James Braid (with strong Alister MacKenzie influences), weaves its way through avenues of silver birch and pine, with heather also coming into the equation on many holes. The course is always presented in excellent condition, and for many golfers visiting Scotland, provides a welcome respite from the more dramatic and windswept links courses by the sea.
With generally good-width, gently undulating fairways, where the hazards are reasonably clear to see, you'll be able to make good use of the "big stick", before playing your approach to the excellent but not overly bunker-defended greens. Combined with the club's Lansdowne course, Blairgowrie offers the opportunity for 36-holes of championship golf in a beautiful Scottish woodland setting. If your visit can only accommodate one round, then you'll probably want to opt for the older and more famous Rosemount course.

Did you know?
|
The original 18-hole course here at Blairgowrie was actually designed by the legendary architect Dr Alister MacKenzie; it opened for play in 1927. Just a few years later, in 1930, the club wanted to expand its facilities to include an 18-hole and a 9-hole course. James Braid set about this task, incorporating some of MacKenzie's original design, but also creating many new holes on what is now the Rosemount course.
It was here on the Rosemount course that Greg Norman recorded his first win on the European Tour in the 1977 Martini International.
