Frank J CouttsThe Course:
18 holes. Tree-lined & open parkland. Gently undulating terrain - a few slopes to climb.
Surroundings:
Riverside (River Dee) and rural countryside.
Designer:
Robin Hiseman designed the current 18-hole Haughton and 9-hole Blairs courses (1994).
Above distances are for the Haughton course. Also at Deeside GC is the 9-hole Blairs course (par-34; 2,515 yds from back tees; rating 33).
Sitting alongside Deeside GC (although separated by the River Dee) is the Paul Lawrie Golf Centre, boasting a nine-hole par-3 course, 27-bay driving range and excellent short game practice area.

Deeside
Deeside Golf Club: Sitting on the north bank of the River Dee, in an area frequently referred to as "Royal Deeside" (see our Did You Know section below), here you will find the Haughton championship course, complemented by the 9-hole Blairs course.
At times tree-lined, at others more open, the Haughton layout, which kicks-off with a downhill par-3, will certainly put your all-round game through its paces. You'll find plenty of good quality bunkering keeping you on your toes, while water ditches cross in front of the greens or cut through the fairways on half the holes.
On this out-and-back layout several holes get you down alongside the river, before quickly turning you back inland again. The par-4 11th and par-3 12th should be the pick of the "river holes," although there's plenty of vegetation on the leftside of these holes to obscure your view of the free-running River Dee.
Visitors welcome on weekdays and weekends.
Must book in advance.
Players generally walk this course.

Deeside Golf Club is located alongside the River Dee, which rises deep in the Cairngorm Mountains and flows through southern Aberdeenshire and into the North Sea at Aberdeen.
The term "Royal Deeside" is frequently used to describe the lands, forests, castles, towns and villages, fishing and hunting areas, and other various attractions that lie a few miles either side of the river. Although "Royal Deeside" was originally used to describe that part of the river flowing from Braemar to Banchory, it is also frequently applied to areas that lie downriver from Banchory, all the way east to Aberdeen itself.
