Nondela Golf Estate: The centrepiece of the Nondela Golf Estate was due to be an Ernie Els designed golf course, scheduled to open for play in 2008. That plan did not come to fruition. The course was built, but as of 2023 had not become operational. The latest vision for the Estate is to revive the dormant course, and have it ready fro play in 2025.
The original Nondela masterplan envisioned a golf course that would reflect the northern Drakensberg's open, rolling, scenic countryside, with stretches of paper-bark forest also in the mix. The real estate would look down over the course, as opposed to having houses scattered among and alongside the holes. The yet to open valley-floor golf course incorporates several water bodies, such as wetlands, lakes and ponds, fed by the Sandspruit River, which runs through the Estate. The development’s namesake, the Nondela Peak, is visible from every point on the site.
Visitors welcome on weekdays and weekends (if and when the course opens).
Contact in advance to determine status of the course.
Located in the northern Drakensburg region, Nondela will be equally accessible and almost equidistant between Johannesburg and Durban. Aside from golf, the Estate will also offer a range of other activities for the whole family including hiking, bike riding, rock climbing, water sports (both motorised and non-motorised), horse riding, game and bird watching. There will also be a variety of wildlife on the estate. Residents and guests will also be able to make use of the wellness centre as well as other facilities the estate has to offer.
