Where2Golf says:

Westlake Golf Club: Located behind the Table Mountain near to Cape Town's vineyards and wineries, Westlake is one of the Cape's older generation of courses, always busy and ever-popular with members and visitors alike. Although the terrain here slopes gently away from the clubhouse, most of the holes are reasonably flat, only a few modest bumps and ripples need to be negotiated along the mainly tree-lined fairways. Trees rather than water will potentially give you most to think about at Westlake. The pleasant array of mature trees and other more recently planted pines provide good definition to the majority of holes, although the tree-line is never too dense and ball-finding is rarely a problem. With several dog-legging holes, there are opportunities to cut corners provided you can hit it long and high over the tall umbrella pines. The par-4 12th is a particular favourite with corner-cutting members ! The nearby Muizenberg mountains and other impressive ranges provide a dramatic and picturesque backdrop to many holes, with some interesting features contained within their craggy heights (see Did You Know). Although not the longest nor toughest course in and around Cape Town, you can count on Westlake to give your game a thorough workout, especially your putting on its often large and sloping greens.

Did you know?

While enjoying the picturesque mountain scenery that is in view from many parts of the course, get a local member or caddie to point out the interesting Elephant's Eye feature, which is part of the Constantiaberg mountain. The trunk, eye, head and back of an elephant is clearly discernible, particularly as you stand on the tee of the very attractive par-5 4th hole.
