Club de Golf Bonmont: A good-width fairway to aim at, not overly long rough and beautiful sea views at the short par-5 1st, sets the tone for this excellent Trent Jones II layout in its high-quality resort setting.
The front-nine at Bonmont is arranged over gently undulating and mainly open terrain, where clusters of pine trees and excellent bunkering provide good definition to the holes. Limited real estate keeps a pleasantly natural feel to these opening holes, which are easy-going rather than tough and technically demanding. You'll need to avoid the (usually dry) water hazards, especially in front of the two fabulous par-3 holes.
The back-nine sets off downhill for a couple of holes but then turns at the par-4 12th to begin a steady and relentless climb to the green of the short par-4 15th. Any real estate (a bit more noticeable on the early back-nine holes), is left behind as you climb up towards the impressive mountains behind the course. The sea and mountain views from these higher elevations are simply stunning.
Pick of the holes: a welcome relief from the back-nine climb (or at least drive) comes when you turn at the par-5 17th to come back down the hill. This is a terrific hole, perhaps the best on a highly scenic and enjoyable course.
Visitors welcome on weekdays and weekends.
Must book in advance. Maximum handicap: men 28; women 36.
Soft spikes only. Players generally walk this course. Golf carts available for hire.

Bonmont, not surprisingly, translates into English as beautiful mountain, in this case providing a wonderful backdrop for your round.

The Masters: The 88th Masters Tournament at Augusta National sees LIV golfer Jon Rahm defend his title against the world’s best. Pressing hard will be world No.1 and 2022 champion Scottie Scheffler and world No.2 Rory McIlroy (April 11-14).
Chevron Championship: the women’s major championship season gets underway for the second year at its new Carlton Woods home outside Houston, Texas. World No.2 Lilia Vu defends (April 18-21).
Nelly Korda: records a perfect start to 2024 with five wins out of her last five starts on the LPGA Tour. Winning the Chevron Championship also brought the second major championship win of her career.
Scottie Scheffler: narrowly missed out on matching Nelly Korda's five wins in five starts, when he placed second at the Houston Open. Either side of that, he won The Arnold Palmer, The Players, and then The Masters and The Heritage.
Marco Simone Golf & Country Club: With a clubhouse that might befit a Roman Emperor, and a golf course to match, you can be sure of a memorable outing at Rome's most talked about golf facility.
Jim Fazio's original layout was much changed to create a modern Ryder Cup course ... now one of the Eternal City's (and Italy's) most revered.
