Fågelbro Golf & Country Club: If ever there was a list of golf courses that most tested your all round game, then Fagelbro would surely be on it.
As if rocky outcrops, tight fairways, fast and sloping greens and railway-sleepered bunkers were not enough, the back-nine also adds a copious number of water hazards, culminating in the 17th hole where a wafer thin fairway gallantly weaves its way through water left and right.
The natural splendour and quietness of Fagelbro will definitely grow on you, and playing the golf course a few times will generate vital "local knowledge". This is beautiful weekend retreat country for many Stockholmers, devotees of the archipelago environment.
From occasional visitors to the area, we've heard the golf at Fagelbro described as "hilly, tricky ....... oh, and then there's the water, but you must give it a go!"
Visitors welcome on weekdays and weekends.
Must book in advance. Maximum handicap: men 30; women 36; total per tee-time 108.
Players generally walk this course.

Walker Cup: the 50th playing of this prestigious men’s amateur event sees the GB&I go head-to-head against the defending USA team at Cypress Point Club, California (Sept 6-7).
After that, all eyes turn to Bethpage State Park on Long Island, NY, where the American and defending European professional teams engage in the 45th Ryder Cup (Sept 27-29).
Lottie Woad: 21-year-old Woad burst onto the professional scene in July, with wins in the Women’s Irish Open (as an amateur) and three weeks later in the Women’s Scottish Open (as a professional). She nearly picked-up a major championship, placing third in The Evian in the same month.
