Osteraker (Nya Vasterled)
Österåkers Golfklubb is now home to two challenging championship layouts, the product of a complete redesign of the original Österled (East) and Västerled (West) courses. Resulting from the Henrik Stenson-led transformations, are the American parkland-style Oster by Stenson course, and (arriving in 2026) the Nya Västerled.
Original Where2Golf description of the Västerled (West) course:
The L-shaped layout of Österakers' Västerled course provides a challenging golf outing which is played in two contrasting environments. One side of the L runs alongside a fairly busy road, where the layout projects an open, links-style quality.
From the downhill par-3 4th to the even better island green downhill par-3 7th, you play along the other side of the L, in a charmingly picturesque woodland valley. The valley, with forest on either side and a wonderfully natural water hazard running through the valley floor, is home to the middle section of both the front and back nines.
Arguably your toughest challenge on the Västerled comes at the par-5 1st, with water and deep rough awaiting any wayward drives, as you journey towards the first of several well-protected and elevated greens.
On-course upkeep here is generally first-class. Combined with the revamped and now more challenging Öster by Stenson course, as well as very good lunch facilities, Österåker has all you need to enjoy excellent golfing day out.
Visitors welcome on weekdays and weekends (after 2pm).
Must book in advance (visitors can book 2 days ahead of day of play). Maximum handicap: men 24; women 30.
Soft spikes only. Players generally walk this course.
Excellent
Österaker's original Västerled (West) played host to the Ladies European Tour's Compaq Open in 1997, 1999 and 2001, when the respective winners were Annika Sörenstam, Laura Davies and Raquel Carriedo (see our Tournaments section >by Venue >Nya Vasterled).
The complete redesign of the club's original Österled (East) course in 2024/25 by Henrik Stenson and Christian Lundin, represented Stenson's first design project. The pair also redesigned the club's original championship Västerled (West) course (2025/26).
