4 km S of Skovde
From the centre of Skovde follow direction Skara (route 49). After roundabout pass the Cementa works (on your right) and then turn left direction Simsjon/golf icon. After 1.8 km golf is on your left.
Skövde Golfklubb (Sodra/South course): Skovde seems quite an industrial town with cement works and wood chipping mills, but once you're on this excellent golf course industrialisation is left far behind. The spectacularly big and spacey Sodra Banan (South course) layout has been magnificently sculpted from a mature forest by Peter Nordwall. But its not so much the trees lining the fairways that you'll come to fear, as much as the dangerously deep rough. On a first outing you'll be looking at seemingly tight tee-shots, only to be amazed at how much room there actually is for safely landing your drives - but you'll need to hit either fairway or semi-rough, the alternative is usually knee-high jungle or asteroid-crater type bunkering. With many excellent dog-leg par-4's and zig-zag par-5's, you'll either be thrilled by this wonderfully natural golf course, or left cursing the ball count in your bag has gone below the comfort level.
Visitors welcome on weekdays and weekends.
Must book in advance. Maximum handicap on South course: 36.
