About the course

  • The Course:

18 holes. Tree-lined & open parkland. Undulating terrain - several slopes to climb.

  • Surroundings:

    Residential and lakeside.

  • Designer:

Current course at Kevinge designed in 1932 by John S.F. Morrison* (of Colt, Alison & Morrison) together with Rafael Sundblom (of Stockholm GC, the first modern golf course architect in Scandinavia). *It is possible Harry Colt did the design work himself, but it is more likely to have been his partner John Morrison.

Stockholms Golfklubb

3-PLUS: Good course - several memorable features; worthy of 3½ stars.

Est. 1904

Stockholms Golfklubb: The second oldest golf club in Sweden can boast a pleasant parkland course situated a few kilometres north of Stockholm's city centre. Although apartment blocks beyond the course come into view on parts of the front-nine loop, the back-nine gets you alongside the Edsviken waterway, for a few scenic lakeside holes.

As a par-69 the course is inevitably on the short side and quite compact in places. Shouts of "Fore!" are not too uncommon here. Some of the best holes in the layout, especially the par-4 1st, 2nd and short doglegging 11th, make good use of a small steep hill, around which the course flows. The show-stealer is the par-3 14th, played directly alongside the Edsviken.

Accuracy versus length is at a premium throughout, with a combination of attractive bunkering, trees and occasional rough providing good definition to the holes. Always presented in excellent condition, this is one of the more interesting golf courses to play in and around Stockholm ... and one of the closest to the city centre.

Did you know?

Founded in 1904, Stockholms Golfklubb is the third oldest golf club in Scandinavia, behind Københavns/Royal Copenhagen (1898) and Göteborgs GK (1902).

The current course (there have been five different locations in the club's history) is located alongside the "Edsviken", a long narrow inlet of the Baltic Sea, which runs between the Stockholm suburbs of Danderyd, Solna and Sollentuna.

Tournaments

The Masters: The 88th Masters Tournament at Augusta National sees LIV golfer Jon Rahm defend his title against the world’s best. Pressing hard will be world No.1 and 2022 champion Scottie Scheffler and world No.2 Rory McIlroy (April 11-14).

Chevron Championship: the women’s major championship season gets underway for the second year at its new Carlton Woods home outside Houston, Texas. World No.2 Lilia Vu defends (April 18-21).

Who's Who

Nelly Korda: records a perfect start to 2024 with four wins out of her last four appearances on the LPGA Tour, a feat last achieved by Lorena Ochoa in 2008. Korda's win at the T-Mobile Match Play brought up her 12th LPGA Tour victory.

Scottie Scheffler: narrowly missed out on matching Nelly Korda’s three-in-three, when he placed second at the Houston Open. This followed back-to-back wins at the Arnold Palmer Invitational and The Players. Like Korda, he remains comfortably ahead in the official world golf rankings.

Marco Simone Golf & Country Club

Marco Simone Golf & Country Club: With a clubhouse that might befit a Roman Emperor, and a golf course to match, you can be sure of a memorable outing at Rome's most talked about golf facility.

Jim Fazio's original layout was much changed to create a modern Ryder Cup course ... now one of the Eternal City's (and Italy's) most revered.
