Vasatorp (Classic)
Vasatorps Golfklubb (Classic Course): Following a considerable revamp of its facilities in the late 2000s, Vasatorp now offers 54-holes of golf, with two 18-hole championship courses and two nine-hole layouts. Pride of place goes to the newer Arthur Hills/Steve Forrest designed Tournament Course (TC), which opened in 2008. Also benefitting from the attentions of Steve Forrest, the original Old (Gamla) course was upgraded in 2013, and simultaneously renamed as the Classic Course. It too puts up an excellent and enjoyable golfing challenge.
With its mix of tree-lined and open parkland holes, the early holes of both front and back-nines on the Classic course are accompanied by an abundance of water ditches and small ponds. Careful course management is required from the get-go.
After these watery beginnings (for which the acquisition of a yardage book is highly recommended), much of the rest of the golf course is laid out on slightly higher ground, where it meanders through a pleasant woodland of oak, birch, silver birch and various conifers.
There are a couple of snaking par-5s to contend with at the 5th and 18th, as well as several testing and curvaceous par-4s, all adding up to a testing course for the local Helsingborgers and visitors alike. The par-5 11th runs parallel to the Malmo-Gothenburg highway, which should not unduly bother your concentration on the golfing task at hand.
Visitors welcome on weekdays and weekends.
Must book in advance (visitors can book 14 days ahead of day of play). Maximum handicap: 36.
