Dubai Hills
Dubai Hills Golf Club by Jumeirah: set against the striking Dubai skyline with the iconic 829-metre Burj Khalifa visible from many holes, this most recent of Dubai courses is already garnering much praise. Carved out of the sandy desert the 18-hole championship course was excellently designed by Gary Johnston of European Golf Design.
The eminently playable layout features good-width contoured fairways and large undulating greens. Numerous shallow valleys and small lakes adorn the layout, along with plenty of bold bunkering, which adds to the course's strong aesthetics and degree of challenge.
The two nine-hole loops feature a front-nine that carves its way through the desert with impressive landscaping that creates something of a stadium effect. The back-nine is flatter but builds to an impressive finish, with water to cross from tee-to-green at the par-3 17th, and another small lake ominously flanking the rightside of the par-4 18th.
Although housing is already making its presence felt around much of the course, lining some holes on both sides, it is set far enough back not to be overly intimidating.
Visitors welcome on weekdays and weekends.
Must book in advance.
Non-metal spike facility.
