Montgomerie Dubai
Montgomerie Golf Club Dubai is home to a big, expansive and open layout, a golfing oasis bounded throughout by large villas, and dotted with occasional palms and small trees within the course. The luxury residences should not come into play, they are thankfully set well back from the prodigious roller-coaster earth mounding that defines the often generously wide fairways.
Your golfing senses will be thoroughly absorbed in Monty's challenging design, which contains its fair share of good-sized water hazards, not least at the par-5 18th that snakes its way through water left and right. Mischievously sloping greens, elevated tee-boxes and substantive greenside and fairway bunkering are also strong components of most holes.
Among many interesting features, is a hand-shaped bunker at the par-3 17th and a gigantic UAE-shaped green at the par-3 13th (see Did You Know section below). This green is surrounded by water on virtually all sides, the water is in turn surrounded by the teeing ground, which forms a near complete circle around the hole.
Scottish links meets Arabian desert is how the literature defines this course - you can make up your own mind on that score, but when in Dubai don't miss out on one of its best and most imaginative designs.
Visitors welcome on weekdays and weekends.

Excellent
The Montgomerie course used to be able to boast the largest green in the world, a vast acreage at the par-3 13th hole that reflected the shape of the UAE. Nowadays the actual putting surface is cut to about half its original size.
The golf course and facilities at Montgomerie GC Dubai are managed and operated by Troon Golf, a world leader in upscale golf course management.
