With a population of around 300,000, the city of Anchorage is home to more than 40% of all Alaskans. The state of Alaska was bought from Imperial Russia in 1867 for $7.2 million, and formally became a U.S. territory in 1912. During the Russian colonial period the area was called Alyaska. It became the 49th state of the U.S.A. in January 1959; Hawaii became the 50th and last state to be admitted in August 1959.
Alaska's 2nd best course (Golf Digest, 2023/24).
