Gary Player Signature Course
Above distances are for the Mission Hills North (Gary Player) course. Adjacent to this course to the south, are the three courses of the private Mission Hills Country Club, designed separately by Desmond Muirhead, Arnold Palmer and Pete Dye. The Muirhead designed Dinah Shore Tournament course, annually hosted the Nabisco Dinah Shore, an LPGA major championship.
Sitting to the north and east of Mission Hills CC's Palmer course, is the Westin Pete Dye Resort course, a former stablemate of the Mission Hills North (Gary Player) course.

Mission Hills North, Calif.
Mission Hills North (Gary Player Signature course): this highly-regarded and challenging championship golf course, is one of many excellent designs at the northern end of the famed Coachella Valley golf destination. Formerly part of the Westin Rancho Mirage resort, it used to count the resort's Pete Dye course as its stablemate. Now they operate separately.
With a stunning backdrop provided by the San Jacinto and San Gorgonio mountain ranges, this challenging Gary Player layout takes you on an enjoyable and modestly undulating journey around two nine-hole loops. Housing lines the way on several occasions, while a challenging mix of pot bunkers and small lakes are also much in evidence alongside the generally good-width fairways.
The rifle-straight par-5 3rd, introduces the first of a plentiful array of water hazards. It should also banish any thoughts of this layout being an easy-going, resort-style push-over. Clinging grassy rough will require some deft pitching work if you want to hit and stay on the often quite small greens.
The back-nine is perhaps the more demanding, with seven of its nine holes guarded by rock-lined water features.
From the par-3 8th, through the turn to the par-4 14th, water will be a constant companion, either flanking the fairways or guarding the front or sides of the greens (or just as likely, both). Of the two "dry" holes on the back-nine, the par-3 15th is instead surrounded by a sea of sand.
Visitors welcome on weekdays and weekends.

"Mission Hills" originally comes from a suburban community in the San Fernando Valley, in the northern suburbs of Los Angeles. The community is home to the Mission San Fernando Rey de España (Mission of Saint Ferdinand, King of Spain) and the Andrés Pico Adobe, the second oldest residence still standing in Los Angeles.
The name Mission Hills has since been used by other golf developments around the world, most notably in China with seven Mission Hills courses in Shenzhen, five in Dongguan and ten in Haikou; there are also two in Thailand.
