Bay Point (Meadows)
Bay Point Resort Golf Club (Meadows course): COURSE CLOSED IN 2018 following extensive damage caused by Hurricane Michael. The Meadows course was still closed as of 2024. Bay Point's Nicklaus course remains fully operational.
[Original Where2Golf description]: At the eastern end of Florida's Emerald Coast, just across St Andrews Bay from Panama City, you'll find Bay Point Resort and its two top-quality and contrasting championship golf courses. The more expansively roaming (and briefly bayside) Nicklaus course may command most attention, but the classical, parkland elegance of the Meadow course is still the favourite of many local golfers.
The charm and genteel serenity of the excellently maintained Meadows layout conceals its undoubted challenges. The sometimes tightish fairways are cut through elegant stands of pines, oaks and magnolias. Occasional ponds threaten at some holes, especially at the start and finish of your round and in the mid-section of the back-nine.
Laid out on relatively flat, uncontoured terrain, most of the holes on this out-and-back design are flanked by mature housing, which is generally set well back behind the tree line.
Good bunkering adds to the clear definition of each hole, and confers a stylish look on the often large and sloping greens. This is a pedigree, older-style, classical parkland course, which attractively complements Bay Point's more open and varied Nicklaus layout.
Course closed in 2018; unknown if and when it will reopen.
Non-metal spike facility. Golf carts compulsory.

Hurricane Michael, which destructively hit the Florida Panhandle in October 2018, caused severe damage to the Meadows course at Bay Point. Several other courses in the area were also badly affected, and were forced to temporarily close. As of 2024, Bay Point's Meadows course has yet to reopen. The Club's higher-rated Nicklaus course is fully open for play.
