4-star: Above average course - well worth a visit.

LPGA International (Jones course): Located just outside Daytona Beach, LPGA International is home to two excellent and contrasting championship layouts. The Hills course (formerly called the Legends) will fully test your game in a classically Floridian wetland and pine forested environment. Alternatively, the more open and forgiving Jones layout (formerly called the Champions) might appeal to big-hitting fans of links golf.

The two clockwise 9-hole loops of the expansive Jones course were masterfully designed by Rees Jones. The par-4 opening hole provides an excellent scene-setter for what's to come, with its inviting, gently mounded fairway occupying relatively open terrain. But, as with many holes that follow, water menacingly lurks on one side of the fairway, while good-sized bunkers also threaten from the tee and around the green. Water is again in play on the next few holes, and also on the excellent closing three-hole stretch.

The "driest" section of the course comes in the middle, perhaps offering up the best birdie chances. You'll need a straight drive at the short par-4 8th, which has much in common with the tighter, tree-lined holes of the Hills course. The always excellent bunkering becomes distinctly exuberant on the three consecutive par-4s that start the back-nine. On each of these holes, an array of expansive sand traps and smaller pot bunkers lie in wait both along their fairways and encircling the front and sides of the greens.

Around the not overly large and often circular putting surfaces you'll get plenty of opportunity to demonstrate your chipping skills - a prerequisite for getting close to the pin and scoring well on the Jones course.
