Between Naples and Fort Myers, leave I-75 at exit 123 and go east on Corkscrew Road (Rte 850). After 7 miles Golf Club is on your right.
Old Corkscrew
Old Corkscrew Golf Club: located in a pristine area of tranquil Florida woodland, with no residential housing either in view or planned, Old Corkscrew is one of the most natural courses in southern Florida.
On this Jack Nicklaus Signature design, the layout, crafting of the holes and balance between playability and challenge are of the highest quality. At times exhibiting a more open feel, at others more tree-lined, the course majestically sweeps through a forest of pines and native oaks, often accompanied by the gentle rustle of wind in the tree tops.
Nine small lakes and ponds ensure that water plays its full part in proceedings, attractively flanking several fairways and wrapped closely alongside eight of the greens. Nicklaus's trademark bunkering, whether large and expansive or small and links like, is an integral part of this very stylish layout, with small islands of pampas grass often highlighting the location of the traps.
Among many outstanding holes, the 2nd introduces a superb collection of par-3s; on this occasion excellent mounding, bunkering and a large, undulating putting surface are the key features. As in days of old, the distance between greens and subsequent tees are kept to a minimum, although "compact" is certainly not a term you'd apply to this wide-roaming layout.
Although never too undulating, the par-4 14th green gets you up a little higher for a view over a large citrus grove. At Old Corkscrew golfers of all abilities will enjoy the naturalness of the surroundings and quality of Nicklaus's fair but ever-challenging design.

Old Corkscrew takes its name from a winding local river that meanders nearby and the Audubon Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary. The Sanctuary features a large protected wetlands area with boardwalk trails, observation towers and an abundance of native wildlife.
Old Corkscrew is designated a Certified Silver Signature Sanctuary by Audubon International.

Sony Open in Hawaii: played at Waialae Country Club near Honolulu, the Sony Open takes over the spotlight from The Sentry as the PGA Tour’s calendar-year opening event (Jan 15-18). The Sentry (not being played in 2026) was formerly known as the Tournament of Champions, with a field typically restricted to golfers who won a PGA Tour event in the previous calendar year.
Dubai Desert Classic: the DP World Tour’s first Rolex Series event of 2026, is contested for the 37th time (Jan 22-25). First won by Englishman Mark James in 1989, it now boasts a four-time winner, Rory McIlroy. Played on the Emirates Golf Club’s Majlis course, this once desert-surrounded course is the long-time flagship for Golf in Dubai.
Our visit last month included two rounds at Golf de Chantilly, one of France’s most prestigious clubs.
It offers two superb layouts: Le Vineuil, a five-star championship course with a rich history, and Longères, an excellent four-star course that provides a strong and enjoyable test.
The wider Paris region offers plenty more. Courses such as Fontainebleau, Golf de Saint-Germain, and several other top-rated layouts make this area one of Europe’s most rewarding golf destinations, offering a mix of woodland, heathland, and parkland designs.

Here at Prince’s Golf Club you'll find 27 excellent holes of links golf. Just over the fence and sharing similar terrain is Royal St George’s; but Prince’s is far from overshadowed by its venerable neighbour. The three nine-hole loops at Prince's, laid out over gently undulating terrain, are sure to bring a smile of satisfaction to all lovers of links golf.
