Streamsong (Red)
Streamsong Resort (Red course): Since 2010, headline grabbing new golf course developments have been something of a rarity. Streamsong bucks that trend. With two fabulous "sandbelt" courses laid out on a former phosphate strip mine, Streamsong has commanded front-page attention since the project was first conceived. And further courses at the resort are a distinct possibility!
With its striking treeless landforms, expansive lakes, rolling terrain and stretches of open savanna, Steamsong's highly-rated Red course brings drama and strategy into play on each spectacular hole. Good-width fairways wind through towering sand dunes, passing lakes and huge natural bunkers along the way. Around the large and undulating greens, run-off areas will carry your ball into testing chip and run territory.
In this less travelled part of the Sunshine state, a golf resort has emerged to rank with the likes of other "modern greats" such as Bandon Dunes, Whistling Straits, Canada's Cabot Links and Australia's Barnbougle Dunes. Streamsong may not be oceanside or lakeside, as are the others. But the entire resort is surrounded by quiet rural countryside, without busy roads or real estate anywhere in sight, which is not always the case on other top Florida courses!
Stay&Play at Streamsong: luxury onsite accommodation is available in the Lodge and Clubhouse (see Where2Stay section below).

Excellent
The Streamsong Resort was developed by the long-time owners of the land, The Mosaic Company, the largest U.S. producer of potash and phosphate fertiliser. The golf courses are built on the site of a former Mosaic phosphate strip mine.
The course names at Streamsong (particularly for the Red and Blue layouts) were apparently chosen based on the colour of the ink used by the designers when drawing the respective course routings on the same map.
Red course:
Florida's 6th best course (Golf Digest, 2025/26).
USA's 133rd best course and 20th best public access course (Golf Digest, 2025/26).
World's 58th best public access course (Golf World, 2025).

Sony Open in Hawaii: played at Waialae Country Club near Honolulu, the Sony Open takes over the spotlight from The Sentry as the PGA Tour’s calendar-year opening event (Jan 15-18). The Sentry (not being played in 2026) was formerly known as the Tournament of Champions, with a field typically restricted to golfers who won a PGA Tour event in the previous calendar year.
Dubai Desert Classic: the DP World Tour’s first Rolex Series event of 2026, is contested for the 37th time (Jan 22-25). First won by Englishman Mark James in 1989, it now boasts a four-time winner, Rory McIlroy. Played on the Emirates Golf Club’s Majlis course, this once desert-surrounded course is the long-time flagship for Golf in Dubai.
Our visit last month included two rounds at Golf de Chantilly, one of France’s most prestigious clubs.
It offers two superb layouts: Le Vineuil, a five-star championship course with a rich history, and Longères, an excellent four-star course that provides a strong and enjoyable test.
The wider Paris region offers plenty more. Courses such as Fontainebleau, Golf de Saint-Germain, and several other top-rated layouts make this area one of Europe’s most rewarding golf destinations, offering a mix of woodland, heathland, and parkland designs.
The Dutch: "It's no' just a game", as they say in Scotland, and that's certainly true at The Dutch. With 5-star services throughout, a lavishly comfortable Loch Lomond-inspired clubhouse, and a superbly designed and presented golf course, one could not ask for more from this top-end private club.
Join us at The Dutch from August 21–24 for the Festival of Golf, featuring the HotelPlanner Tour. Experience four days of top-tier sport, live music, incredible food, and unexpected surprises.
