The Club at Eaglebrooke: occupying a quiet and predominantly natural environment to the south of Lakeland in central Florida, Eaglebrooke boasts an excellent quality golf course. Just make a small detour off the Orlando-Tampa Interstate (I-4), and you can pit your golfing skills against Ron Garl's well-designed layout.
In many ways a classic Florida layout, the housing around parts of the perimeter is thankfully never too intrusive. The course retains a predominantly natural feel.
Water threatens throughout on the scenic back-nine with the 10th and 11th, 12th thru 15th and the challenging 16th thru 18th wrapped around three good-size lakes. Most difficult of all is the par-4 13th, played from island tee-boxes, to an island fairway and then onto an island green.
Water is not present on half the front-nine holes, although large sandy waste areas take its place on the 5th, 7th and 9th holes. There are some pleasant elevation changes as at the well-bunkered, uphill par-5 7th.
In-between the plentiful water and sand hazards, you'll find generally good-width, relatively open and well-groomed fairways leading you towards large, nicely undulating greens.
Visitors welcome on weekdays and weekends.
Must book in advance.
Walking permitted at certain times (usually afternoons).

Directly to the east of The Club at Eaglebrook is an area called the Lakelands Highland Scrub. This conservation area comprises over 500 acres of undeveloped scrubland on the "Lakeland Ridge", one of several elevated sandy ridges in Florida. The Lakelands Highland Scrub rises to more than 230 feet above sea level; previously it was surrounded by, or under water.

Walker Cup: the 50th playing of this prestigious men’s amateur event sees the GB&I go head-to-head against the defending USA team at Cypress Point Club, California (Sept 6-7). After that, all eyes turn to Bethpage State Park on Long Island, NY, where the American and defending European professional teams engage in the 45th Ryder Cup (Sept 27-29).
Lottie Woad: 21-year-old Woad burst onto the professional scene in July, with wins in the Women’s Irish Open (as an amateur) and three weeks later in the Women’s Scottish Open (as a professional). She nearly picked-up a major championship, placing third in The Evian in the same month.
Pádraig Harrington: the ever-likeable Irishman added the (British) Senior Open Championship title to his stellar array of tournament successes. His win came on Sunningdale’s spectacular Old Course. Harrington had already bagged the U.S. Senior Open title in June this year.
