Ohoopee Match Club

Private: A course for members and their invited guests only.

Est. 2018

Ohoopee Match Club: gently rolling terrain without significant elevation changes provided Gil Hanse with an excellent platform for his exciting design on this former onion farm. Also occupying pristine woodland close to the Ohoopee River, this relatively recent arrival in central Georgia has already acquired world-class acclaim.

Think Pinehurst No.2 or Pine Valley in terms of the often dramatic sand-based holes. Laid out in a wonderfully natural environment, which combines woodland stretches and open spaces, the super-sized fairways and greens should inspire confidence from the tee and in the approach. But beware the bunkering and sandy waste areas, which are plentiful, and the two lakeside holes.

Limited access: this private course is generally playable only by members and their invited guests.

Did you know?

Ohoopee Match Club was built on a former onion farm and close to the Ohoopee River (but not directly on it). The club's logo is a bulbous Vidalia onion with three leaves and entwined serpents for its roots. Vidalia is a nearby town, famed for its production of a "sweet" variety of onion.

Lottie Woad: 21-year-old Woad burst onto the professional scene in July, with wins in the Women’s Irish Open (as an amateur) and three weeks later in the Women’s Scottish Open (as a professional). She nearly picked-up a major championship, placing third in The Evian in the same month.

Pádraig Harrington: the ever-likeable Irishman added the (British) Senior Open Championship title to his stellar array of tournament successes. His win came on Sunningdale’s spectacular Old Course. Harrington had already bagged the U.S. Senior Open title in June this year.
