Hapuna Golf Course

4-star: Above average course - well worth a visit.

Est. 1992

Hapuna Golf Course nestles in rugged desert terrain above the northwest shore of Hawaii's Big Island, directly alongside the highly-rated Mauna Kea golf course. With its seemingly endless ocean views and dramatic elevation changes beginning at sea level and rising to 700 feet, the well-rated Hapuna layout offers a wonderfully scenic test for your golf game.

This "links-style" design should not disappoint, with many attractive features and several excellent holes to enjoy. The Pacific Ocean provides a picture perfect backdrop to most of the holes, which were laid out by the legendary Arnold Palmer and his trusted design companion Ed Seay.

Pick of the holes: teeing off at just under 700 feet of elevation, the signature par-4 12th hole provides one of the most spectacular panoramic views on Hawaii's Big Island, with the neighbouring island of Maui in the distance.

Stay&Play at Hapuna: onsite accommodation available, see Where2Stay section below.

Did you know?

Hapuna Golf Course takes its name from the beach of that name, a small and wonderfully scenic beach that lies between large rocky headlands (Kaunaoa Point and Kanekanaka Point). Behind the beach lies Hapuna Beach State Park and the Three Frogs Cafe. Behind those, the lava fields that evetually lead up to the now dormant volcano of Mauna Kea (one of five volcanoes that created Hawaii island).
