Olympia Fields Country Club

Private: A course for members and their invited guests only.

Est. 1915

Olympia Fields Country Club, located just south of Chicago, is home to two renowned championship layouts. The club's South course (formerly known as the No.1 layout) and famed North course (formerly known as the club's No.4 layout) were respectively designed by Scottish master craftsmen Tom Bendelow of Aberdeen and Willie Park Jr of Musselburgh.

The much revered North course remains largely true to Willie Park's original design. Over the years it's been lengthened, and the bunkers deeped, but not too much else has changed. It remains one of the top-rated and finest championship layouts in Illinois.

The South course was designed in 1915 by Tom Bendelow of Aberdeen. The layout is known for its many dramatic elevation changes, and for Butterfield Creek, which winds its way through or alongside 11 of the 18 holes.

Limited access: these private courses are generally playable only by members and their invited guests.

When Olympia Fields was completed in 1925, it gained the reputation as "the world's largest private golf club", with seventy-two holes of golf on offer to its members, and an "army" of over a thousand caddies . The English Tudor clubhouse with its regal church-like clock tower, reinforced the club's grandly opulent image. The dining room could seat 800!

Olympia Fields CC has hosted many top level national championships and professional tour events, including two US Opens, PGA Championships, a US Senior Open and several Western Opens (see our Tournaments section >by Venue >Olympia Fields).
