Des Moines G&CC
The private Des Moines Country Club is home to two highly rated championship golf courses. Both the North and South layouts were originally developed when the club moved to its current location in 1958. Both were revamped by Pete Dye in the late-1960s, and both now rank with the best in Iowa.
These tree-lined and open parkland layouts provide a wonderful test for your all-round game, with many attractive, skilfully crafted and challenging holes to enjoy. For the 2017 Solheim Cup, a composite of the North and South layouts was used. The Solheim Cup front-nine was played on the back-nine of the North course. The Solheim Cup's closing nine was predominantly played on the front-nine of the South course.
Private club - guests may only play if hosted by a member.
Non-metal spike facility.

Amongst many top-quality amateur and professional events held at Des Moines G&CC, the biggest to date have been the 1999 US Senior Open and the 15th playing of the Solheim Cup in 2017 (see our Tournaments section >by venue >Des Moines G&CC).
Des Moines Golf & Country Club is a Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary course, with a course maintenance team that build birdhouses for bluebirds and swallows to nest in; use environmentally friendly chemicals so swans have a safe pond to thrive in, conserve water to keep the courses green, and plant trees to provide cover for wildlife.
North course:
Iowa's 5th best course (Golf Digest, 2023/24).
South course:
Iowa's 7th best course.
