Cherokee Valley Golf Club

Located just outside Memphis, across the border in Mississippi, Cherokee Valley Golf Club provides for a pleasantly varied round of golf. A total of 11 lakes and 63 bunkers may at first sound intimidating, but wide fairways and not overly penal rough on the hole-lining mounds, ensures a fair degree of forgiveness for wayward shots. The always good-width fairways meander across rolling terrain, while a few sections occupy flatter ground. The mix of tree-lined and open parkland holes are occasionally flanked by water, most threateningly on the first five holes of the back-nine. The par-5 10th, with water skirting the right-side of the fairway from tee-to-green and a cluster of menacing bunkers on the left, makes for a testing start to the back-nine loop. Water doesn't feature on the par-4 9th and 18th holes, but both holes, which sit side-by-side, demand a steady climb back up to the clubhouse. Real estate occasionally makes its presence felt, more so on the back-nine, but usually located far enough back to be out of harm's way.

Who's Who

Nelly Korda: records a perfect start to 2024 with four wins out of her last four appearances on the LPGA Tour, a feat last achieved by Lorena Ochoa in 2008. Korda's win at the T-Mobile Match Play brought up her 12th LPGA Tour victory.
