The Links at Cottonwoods: GOLF COURSE WAS CLOSED IN 2014, most probably on a permanent basis.
[Original Where2Golf description]: Harrah's Tunica Resort, sitting alongside the Mississippi River, is home to three hotels, convention facilities, a large casino and impressive 18-hole championship golf course.
The Links at Cottonwood, as its name suggests, offers Scottish links-style golf on a layout that was originally crafted from flat, open cotton fields.
The Hale Irwin designed and almost treeless layout, incorporates plenty of dune-like mounding topped with long fescue grasses, which define the good-width, rippling fairways. Good bunkering and slick run-off areas around the large, undulating greens further add to the course's Scottish-links feel. Significant water hazards come into play on a few occasions, not least at the par-4 5th, with a large pond awaiting anything hit too far right off the tee.
Two of the strongest holes are the par-3 16th and par-5 17th. Both are played alongside water, this time an expansive lake, across which is the resort's Veranda Hotel.
With no housing or roads around the course, and only flat cotton fields beyond much of the perimeter (characteristic of this historic Mississippi "Delta" region), your full concentration can be given to building a good score on this good-quality, enjoyable course.
Course permanently closed in 2014.
Non-metal spike facility. Walking permitted. Golf carts are fitted with GPS.

The Links at Cottonwood was attached to Harrah's Casino Tunica, previously known as the Grand Casino Tunica. As a major casino resort facility in Tunica Resorts, Mississippi, it's final owner Caesars Entertainment shut down most of the facility in 2014 following an extended period of declining business.

Sony Open in Hawaii: played at Waialae Country Club near Honolulu, the Sony Open takes over the spotlight from The Sentry as the PGA Tour’s calendar-year opening event (Jan 15-18). The Sentry (not being played in 2026) was formerly known as the Tournament of Champions, with a field typically restricted to golfers who won a PGA Tour event in the previous calendar year.
Dubai Desert Classic: the DP World Tour’s first Rolex Series event of 2026, is contested for the 37th time (Jan 22-25). First won by Englishman Mark James in 1989, it now boasts a four-time winner, Rory McIlroy. Played on the Emirates Golf Club’s Majlis course, this once desert-surrounded course is the long-time flagship for Golf in Dubai.
Our visit last month included two rounds at Golf de Chantilly, one of France’s most prestigious clubs.
It offers two superb layouts: Le Vineuil, a five-star championship course with a rich history, and Longères, an excellent four-star course that provides a strong and enjoyable test.
The wider Paris region offers plenty more. Courses such as Fontainebleau, Golf de Saint-Germain, and several other top-rated layouts make this area one of Europe’s most rewarding golf destinations, offering a mix of woodland, heathland, and parkland designs.
The Dutch: "It's no' just a game", as they say in Scotland, and that's certainly true at The Dutch. With 5-star services throughout, a lavishly comfortable Loch Lomond-inspired clubhouse, and a superbly designed and presented golf course, one could not ask for more from this top-end private club.
Join us at The Dutch from August 21–24 for the Festival of Golf, featuring the HotelPlanner Tour. Experience four days of top-tier sport, live music, incredible food, and unexpected surprises.
