The Bear Trace at Cumberland Mountain

4-star: Above average course - well worth a visit.

Est. 1998

Like the other four Bear Trace courses designed by Jack Nicklaus for Tennessee State Parks, the layout at Cumberland Mountain benefits from a wonderfully natural setting. Situated in the heart of Tennessee's scenic Cumberland Plateau, roads and housing play no part in proceedings here. The opening and closing stretches of this well-rated and always popular course, are routed through an open and links-style environment. Here the pleasantly undulating fairways are bordered by swaying fescue grasses, that are well worth staying out of. As you progress, the course takes on a more woodland character, with tree-lined stretches alternating with the more open areas. Playing 6,900-yards from the back-tees, the layout features several elevation changes as well as many natural features, including flowing brooks and clusters of mature pines. The par-4 3rd and signature par-4 7th holes both incorporate another of the region's natural resources, layered flagstones, which defend the front of the respective greens. Generally good-width, nicely undulating fairways, lead you towards the not overly large, subtly-sloping and often kidney-shaped greens. With all manner of hazards guarding the greens, not least deep pot bunkers, the quality of your approach play as well as your skills with the short stick will be thoroughly tested. With many attractive features and several excellent holes to enjoy, Cumberland Mountain is a course that will not disappoint, and is definitely one to include on your play list if you are in the area.

Marco Simone Golf & Country Club

Marco Simone Golf & Country Club: With a clubhouse that might befit a Roman Emperor, and a golf course to match, you can be sure of a memorable outing at Rome's most talked about golf facility.

Jim Fazio's original layout was much changed to create a modern Ryder Cup course ... now one of the Eternal City's (and Italy's) most revered.

Golf Son Gual

Golf Son Gual is home to a course frequently rated the No.1 layout on the holiday island of Mallorca. Opening for play in 2007, this Thomas Himmel design combines the openness of a links-style layout with the stylish bunkering and not infrequent water hazards more typically associated with parkland courses.

Son Gual is located just a few kilometres from Palma (Mallorca). Palma's Old City shows clear influences from the city's Arab past.
