Ba Na Hills
Ba Na Hills Golf Club is located in the forested foothills of the jungle-clad Ba Na Hills mountain range, about a 25-minute drive west of central Da Nang. Keep going a few kilometres further west, and you reach the French-themed replica village, which makes Ba Na Hills one of Vietnam's top recreational attractions.
The par-72 championship golf course, which can stretch to almost 8,000 yards from the tips, was crafted by English professional golfer Luke Donald. Beyond the region's stunning scenery, there are many aspects of Donald's first major design project to admire and enjoy. Principal among these is the bold impressive grass-faced bunkering, usually visible from the tees and as you approach the greens.
Donald's elegant layout includes a flatter front-nine loop, which is parkland in style. The back-nine loop takes you on a more expansive journey, winding its way through the twists and turns of the surrounding hillside.
Water begins to threaten on the final trio of holes on the front side, and maintains a regular presence on the back-nine. The signature hole is the par-3 16th, which plunges downhill to an island green. But for the pole-mounted floodlighting, this would be as natural a tree-lined course as you could wish to play ... the compensation is the fun of night golf.
Visitors welcome on weekdays and weekends.
Must book in advance.

Just 2.5 km from the golf course is a cable car station, which provides an incredibly scenic ride to the Ba Na Hills French-themed village (14 km by winding road west of the golf). As one of Vietnam's top tourist destinations, the mountain-top village comes complete with accommodations, a replica French village, aerial walkways (Golden Bridge), cable car network, a cathedral, town square, inns, French cuisine, and a whole lot more ... one of the most significant resort and recreational complexes in Vietnam.
Ba Na Hills GC is managed and operated by IMG Golf Course Services, a world leader in upscale golf course management. The course is the first design project undertaken by Luke Donald.
Vietnam's 5th best course (Golf Digest, 2022).

Sony Open in Hawaii: played at Waialae Country Club near Honolulu, the Sony Open takes over the spotlight from The Sentry as the PGA Tour’s calendar-year opening event (Jan 15-18). The Sentry (not being played in 2026) was formerly known as the Tournament of Champions, with a field typically restricted to golfers who won a PGA Tour event in the previous calendar year.
Dubai Desert Classic: the DP World Tour’s first Rolex Series event of 2026, is contested for the 37th time (Jan 22-25). First won by Englishman Mark James in 1989, it now boasts a four-time winner, Rory McIlroy. Played on the Emirates Golf Club’s Majlis course, this once desert-surrounded course is the long-time flagship for Golf in Dubai.
Our visit last month included two rounds at Golf de Chantilly, one of France’s most prestigious clubs.
It offers two superb layouts: Le Vineuil, a five-star championship course with a rich history, and Longères, an excellent four-star course that provides a strong and enjoyable test.
The wider Paris region offers plenty more. Courses such as Fontainebleau, Golf de Saint-Germain, and several other top-rated layouts make this area one of Europe’s most rewarding golf destinations, offering a mix of woodland, heathland, and parkland designs.
The Dutch: "It's no' just a game", as they say in Scotland, and that's certainly true at The Dutch. With 5-star services throughout, a lavishly comfortable Loch Lomond-inspired clubhouse, and a superbly designed and presented golf course, one could not ask for more from this top-end private club.
Join us at The Dutch from August 21–24 for the Festival of Golf, featuring the HotelPlanner Tour. Experience four days of top-tier sport, live music, incredible food, and unexpected surprises.
