Laguna Lăng Cô Golf Club

4-PLUS: Must play course - excellent standard; worthy of 4½ stars.

Est. 2013

Laguna Lăng Cô Golf Club: Generally regarded as one of Vietnam's best courses, this Nick Faldo design is laid out between the azure waters of the East Vietnam Sea and an impressive jungle-clad coastal mountain range. The out-and-back layout wanders through six different habitats, which include (in the order you arrive at them): water, rice paddies, woodland, duneland, beach and sandy "blowouts".

Although close to the sea, most of the time you are tucked away behind a dense area of coastal trees and a small canal. You cross the canal in front of the par-4 10th green. Only at the short and tight par-4 9th hole do you really get beachside. There's plenty of golfing challenge in this eclectic and exuberant layout, but it's a course where you hanker for a bit more exposure to sea views ... and beachside golf.
