Roll of Honour

Walker Cup player (1995). Ryder Cup player (2004, '06). Multiple wins on the European and Australasian Tours.

Did you know?

In 1993, at the end of an excellent amateur career, Howell added his name to the impressive list of winners of the (British) Boys Amateur Championship. This prestigious amateur title (for golfers aged 18 and under) was secured on the same Glenbervie course where 10 years earlier Jose Maria Olzabal had triumphed in the same event.

Howell's first professional win came at the end of 1998 in the Australian PGA Championship. Back in Europe he scooped the Dubai Desert Classic at the start of 1999. A six year wait would ensue before the next two European Tour wins, which both came in 2005. Another win in 2006 was followed by an even longer winless streak that lasted until 2013, during which time Howell struggled with a recurring back injury. In September of 2013 things came right again and Howell won the Alfred Dunhill Links on the Old Course, St Andrews, one of the European Tour's richest events.
