Did you know?

Hugh Kirkaldy won the 1891 Open Championship, which was played in stormy weather at Troon. Finishing in second place, two shots back, were Willie Fernie (the 1983 champion) and Andrew Kirkaldy, Hugh's older brother. Jack Kirkaldy, the oldest of the three golfing brothers, had previously had a best place finish of third in the 1982 Open Championship. Hugh Kirkaldy died of TB (tuberculosis) aged just 28.
