Did you know?

After graduating in 1970 from Purdue University with a degree in Agronomy, Lee Schmidt initially worked for Pete Dye as one of his field architects. After seven year at Dye Designs, Schmidt moved onto the Landmark Land Company, where he was head of design and construction. After 12 years at Landmark, Schmidt then enjoyed a seven-year spell as a lead design associate with Nicklaus Design.

It was in 1997, that Schmidt teamed-up with Brian Curley (who he knew from his Landmark days) to form the highly successful Schmidt-Curley Design partnership. The firm worked primarily in the southwest United States, before shifting their focus and energies to the fast-growing Asian market.

Lee Schmidt and Brian Curley, under the Schmidt-Curley Design umbrella, have built numerous world-renowned golf courses, including Amata Spring in Thailand, all ten courses at Mission Hills Resort in Shenzhen and Dongguan, and another ten at Mission Hills Haikou, the extraordinary (but now closed) trio at Stone Forest International, and Clearwater Bay on Hainan Island ... to name but a few.
