Claydon played on the European Tour between 1989 and 2004. After six second place finishes on the Tour, he clinched victory by a stroke at the prestigious BMW International Open in Germany in 1998.

Claydon (Eng) won the European Tour 1990 Sir Henry Cotton Rookie of the Year Award as the leading first-season player. Claydon finished 28th on the Tour's Order of Merit, with earnings of £113,967.
Presidents Cup: Geoff Ogilvy’s International Team take on Brandt Snedeker’s USA Team at the revered Medinah Country Club, near Chicago. The Internationals are trying to halt a run of 11 consecutive American wins. (Sept 24-27).
French Open: Continental Europe’s oldest national championship, dating from 1906, is once again staged on the Albatros Course at Le Golf National, near Paris. Defending champion is America’s Michael Kim. (Sept 24-27).
