Did you know?

Sir Guy Colin Campbell, 4th Baronet of St Cross Mede in the County of Southampton, to give him his full title, was the son of Sir Guy Theophilus Campbell, 3rd Baronet, and father of the much decorated soldier Colonel Sir Guy Theophilus Halswell Campbell, 5th Baronet. A very competent amateur golfer (he went to university in St Andrews), Campbell was not a golf course architect "by trade", but after the Great War he worked on a few projects with renowned designer Major Cecil K. Hutchison.

In 1928 Hutchison and Campbell teamed up with Col. Stafford Vere Hotchkin in the firm Ferigna. Taking its name from Hotchkin's revolutionary iron-based turf dressings and fertilisers, Ferigna covered all aspects of golf course design, construction, maintenance, equipment, turf dressing and seeding. From 1928 the company undertook the design and construction of several courses in the south of England ... most notably, West Sussex (1931) and Ashridge (1932).
