After a successful amateur career in South Korea, Yoo turned professional in 2004, aged 17, and joined the LPGA Tour in 2006. In 2012 she won her first major championship, beating fellow-South Korean I.K. Kim in a playoff. Kim had earlier missed a one-foot putt to win the tournament on the final hole of regulation play. Yoo is known by her fellow South Koreans on the LPGA Tour as the "Course Clown."

Played as the Kraft Nabisco Championship (41st) (March 29-April 1). Yoo (S Kor) beat In-kyung "I.K." Kim (S Kor) at the first playoff hole, to record her first win in a major championship and second LPGA Tour title. [Dinah Shore Tournament course, Mission Hills CC, Rancho Mirage, CA].
