The result was a reversal of first and second from the previous year. Reduced to 54 holes after final round on June 12 abandoned due to rain. [Mahony's Point course, Killarney G&FC, Co. Kerry].

Played as the inaugural Jeyes Professional-Amateur Tournament (May 31-June 3; featuring 22 professionals and 22 amateurs playing for separate prizes). David Sheahan (Ire) won the amateur section by 8 shots. He also finished 1 shot better than the leading professional, Denis Hutchinson (Zim/RSA), who took the professional's first prize of £550.
