Played as the Stella Artois Players Championship (Nov 13-15; Sunshine Tour 2025/26 season). Second-placed Oliver Bekker (RSA) and Christiaan Burke (RSA) finished 2 shots behind Juan Carlo "JC" Ritchie (RSA), who recorded his 11th Sunshine Tour win. Due to forecast bad weather for Sunday, the third and fourth rounds were both played on Saturday. [Firethorn course, Randpark GC, Johannesburg, RSA].

Second-placed Jaco Ahlers (RSA), Michael Hollick (RSA) and Haydn Porteous (RSA) finished 1 shot behind 36-year-old Heinrich Bruiners (RSA), who recorded his second Sunshine Tour win, ending 11 winless years on the Tour. Second-placed Casey Jarvis (RSA) and Peter Karmis (Greece) finished 6 shots behind 25-year-old Kyle Barker (RSA), who recorded his first Sunshine Tour win. During the third round, Jarvis shot a 59 (-13), equalling the Tour's low gross record. The only other player to shoot 59 on the Sunshine Tour was Karmis in 2009. [Dainfern CC, nr Johannesburg, RSA].

Played as the inaugural Stella Artois Players Championship (Apr 21-24; Sunshine Tour). Jaco Ahlers (RSA) beat Ockie Strydom (RSA) with a birdie at the second playoff hole (par-5 18th), to record his tenth win on the Sunshine Tour. [Dainfern CC, nr Johannesburg, RSA].
Sony Open in Hawaii: played at Waialae Country Club near Honolulu, the Sony Open takes over the spotlight from The Sentry as the PGA Tour’s calendar-year opening event (Jan 15-18). The Sentry (not being played in 2026) was formerly known as the Tournament of Champions, with a field typically restricted to golfers who won a PGA Tour event in the previous calendar year.
Dubai Desert Classic: the DP World Tour’s first Rolex Series event of 2026, is contested for the 37th time (Jan 22-25). First won by Englishman Mark James in 1989, it now boasts a four-time winner, Rory McIlroy. Played on the Emirates Golf Club’s Majlis course, this once desert-surrounded course is the long-time flagship for Golf in Dubai.
Our visit last month included two rounds at Golf de Chantilly, one of France’s most prestigious clubs.
It offers two superb layouts: Le Vineuil, a five-star championship course with a rich history, and Longères, an excellent four-star course that provides a strong and enjoyable test.

Here at Prince’s Golf Club you'll find 27 excellent holes of links golf. Just over the fence and sharing similar terrain is Royal St George’s; but Prince’s is far from overshadowed by its venerable neighbour.
