Second-placed Sihwan Kim (USA) and Sadom Kaewkanjana (Thai) finished 3 shots behind Shih-chang Chan (Taiw). [Grand Prix GC, Bo Phloi District, nr Kanchanaburi, Thailand]. Note: originally planned for March 2020, but postponed until 2022 due to the global coronavirus pandemic; played in 2017 and 2018 as the Royal Cup.

Played as the Mercuries Taiwan Masters (Sept 29-Oct 2; Asian Tour event). Shih-chang Chan (Taiw) beat Rashid Khan (India) with a birdie at the second playoff hole (par- 4 18th), to record his fifth Asian Tour win. [Tamsui course, Taiwan G&CC, Taipei, Taiwan].

Played as the inaugural Blue Canyon Championship (Nov 25-28; the first Asian Tour event since March 2020, following the global coronavirus pandemic). Second-placed Joohyung Kim (S Kor) and Sadom Kaewkanjana (Thai) finished 1 shot behind 35-year-old Shih-chang Chan (Taiw), who recorded his third Asian Tour. [Canyon course, Blue Canyon CC, Phuket, Thailand].

Played as the King's Cup presented by PTT Group (July 28-31; Asian/Eurpn Trs event) (not played in 2015). Second-placed Wen-tang Lin (Taiw) finished 2 shots behind 30-year-old Chan (Taiw), who claimed his first Asian Tour win. [Phoenix Gold G&CC, Pattaya, Thailand].

Played as the Asia-Pacific Open Golf Championship Diamond Cup (Japan/Asian Trs event). Second-placed Ippei Koike (Jpn) finished 2 shots behind 30-year-old Chan (Taiw), whose final round 8-under-par 62 gave him his first win in Japan. [West course, Ibaraki CC, Osaka, Japan].
Sony Open in Hawaii: played at Waialae Country Club near Honolulu, the Sony Open takes over the spotlight from The Sentry as the PGA Tour’s calendar-year opening event (Jan 15-18). The Sentry (not being played in 2026) was formerly known as the Tournament of Champions, with a field typically restricted to golfers who won a PGA Tour event in the previous calendar year.
Dubai Desert Classic: the DP World Tour’s first Rolex Series event of 2026, is contested for the 37th time (Jan 22-25). First won by Englishman Mark James in 1989, it now boasts a four-time winner, Rory McIlroy. Played on the Emirates Golf Club’s Majlis course, this once desert-surrounded course is the long-time flagship for Golf in Dubai.
Our visit last month included two rounds at Golf de Chantilly, one of France’s most prestigious clubs.

Here at Prince’s Golf Club you'll find 27 excellent holes of links golf. Just over the fence and sharing similar terrain is Royal St George’s; but Prince’s is far from overshadowed by its venerable neighbour.
